Yaser Al Habib
Biography
Yasser Al Habib is a Kuwaiti-born Shia hate preacher that regularly targets revered figures in Sunni Islamic history, including Prophet Muhammad’s wives, and his companions. His remarks have lead to global condemnations from Sunni Muslims, and even condemnations from Shia clergy, including Twelver Shia Iranian and Lebanese religious officials, who have issued fatwas against his insults of Sunni figures, and even called him a “madman hired by foreign governments to exacerbate the sectarian divide between Sunnis and Shias”. Al Habib was imprisoned in Kuwait in 2003 for inciting sectarianism for attacking key figures in Sunni Islam. In 2004, and upon his release from prison, he fled to the UK to escape a decade-long sentence on similar charges. He currently resides in the UK, and opened a mosque in Buckinghamshire on the site of a former church in 2013.
Following his expulsion from Kuwait and his arrival to the UK, Habib also set up Fadak TV, an online resource that promotes Shiism as the “the only truth in Islam”, and regularly posts sectarian content. Habib has also authored a book titled “Prostitute: The Other Face of Aisha” - attacking the Prophet’s wife. Aisha is a highly revered female figure in Sunni Islam.

Evidence of Hate Speech/Incitement:
February 2021: Al Habib held a 3 hour online lecture where he discusses the personal hygiene of revered companions of the Prophet Muhammad. During the lecture, he regularly curses and swears at the Prophet’s companions - profanities that are considered highly provocative by Sunnis and many Shias alike.
May 2019: Al Habib stated that Arab and Muslim men who are effeminate, and who act like females should be scolded and excommunicated, and that it is a duty of the Muslim community to eliminate this phenomenon.
October 2014: Al Habib stated that in order to get rid of Daesh, the Muslim community must do away with highly revered Sunni figures such as Abu Bakr, Omar and Aisha - signifying that Sunni reverence for the Prophet’s primary companions and his wife is the cause behind the ideological rise in extremist Sunni mentality such as Daesh.
