John Hagee
Biography
John Hagee is a right-wing Christian leader and founder of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), a religious Christian organisation with a militaristic stance on U.S. policy in the Middle East.
Hagee commands a large follower base on social media, and is the pastor of the Texas-based Cornerstone Church - a large church that seats 5,000 people and retains a membership of 18,000. Hagee regularly discusses the topic of Christian Zionism and the responsibility of Christians, and particularly U.S. Christians to ensure that Israel is supported financially and militarily.
His view emanates from a theological doctrine that the Bible commands Christians to support the State of Israel, in preparation for the second coming of Jesus Christ, where he will establish a one-thousand-year empire with Jerusalem as its capital. Amongst other missions listed on his website focused on propagating Christianity and promoting Evangelism, “Commitment to Israel” is also listed as a key tenet of his ideology, promoting hatred of Palestinians and protecting Israel at all costs.
