Ahmed Abdullah
Biography
Abu Islam graduated from the Department of Philosophy from Ain Shams University in 1981, and obtained two postgraduate diplomas, the first in Press from Cairo University in 1985, and the second in Education from Ain Al Shams University in 1993. He also pursued a master's degree in education from the same university in 1995. He worked as director of the Egyptian People's Newspaper between 1986 - 1990, before establishing his own newspaper, the Tanweer Al-Islam magazine, which issued four issues and ceased publication.
Abu Islam published more than 30 books, one of which was published in 2010 by the Islamic Enlightenment Center, which is run by Abu Islam. According to him, the book confirms distortions in the Gospel. This led Counselor Naguib Gabriel, President of the Egyptian Federation for Human Rights, to submit a report to the Attorney General against Abu Islam.
After Abu Islam tore up the Bible in front of the American embassy in 2012, he was sentenced to 11 years in prison and a three thousand Egyptian-pound bond to suspend the temporary execution of the sentence, on charges of blasphemy, on charges of burning the Bible, contempt of religion and disturbing public security. However, in February 2013, the criminal court released Abu Islam after serving a 5-year prison sentence.

Evidence of Hate Speech/Incitement:
February 2013: The Egyptian preacher faced criticism after he accused "Christians" of causing the phenomenon of sexual harassment in Egypt. He also said that opponents of the Egyptian regime are the ones who harass women during the demonstrations. Therefore, Abu Islam is not only disdainful of religions, but also promotes strife among the Egyptian people.
October 2012: Abu Islam burned a copy of the Bible during demonstrations in front of the US embassy over protesting the film offensive to the Prophet Muhammad and was sentenced to 11 years in prison. Abu Islam stated, "I am determined to do what I did because I did it with all my will and mental strength, and I did it in obedience to God."
